Guide · Area by area

Where to park in each part of downtown Reykjavík.

How to use this page

Start from where you're going, not from the first empty space. Each part of downtown has one option that usually works best — here they are, with the nearest city garage.

Area notes

Harpa and the harbour

The most convenience-driven part of town. The Kolaport garage is close and costs less than a P1 street space, so it's the default. Harpa guide.

Laugavegur

Probably the easiest place in Reykjavík to overpay. Much of the street is pedestrian; turn into a parallel street instead. Laugavegur guide.

Hallgrímskirkja

No visitor car park. Close spaces only matter if the church is your main stop; otherwise park lower down. Hallgrímskirkja guide.

The hotel district

Where visitors most need an overnight plan rather than a daytime tip. Hotel parking guide.

The edge of the center

P3 streets at the edge of downtown are the best general rule for long visits: 70 kr an hour after the first two, free after 18:00 and all weekend.
