Why this site exists
Reykjavík's parking rules are public, but they're spread across Icelandic and English pages, price lists and news releases — and they don't tell a visitor what to actually do. Parking Reykjavík turns those rules into decisions: where to park near Harpa, when a garage beats the street, whether parking is free tonight, what the airport will charge.
Who writes it
The site is written and maintained by Antoine, an independent publisher. It isn't run by, or affiliated with, the City of Reykjavík, its parking service (Bílastæðasjóður), Isavia, or any parking operator or rental company.
How the guides are made
- Official sources first. Prices, hours and fines come from the City of Reykjavík parking service and, for the airport, from Isavia. Each guide names its sources.
- Checked and dated. Every guide shows when it was last updated. Prices were last checked in October 2026.
- Real distances. Walking times are estimated from map distances (OpenStreetMap), not guessed.
- Visitor questions. The topics come from the questions drivers ask most: where to park, how much, and how to avoid a fine.
- Corrections are welcome. If something has changed, tell us and we'll check it against the official source.
How the site is funded
The guides are free. The site is funded by advertising (Google AdSense) and by partner links for car rentals, hotels and tours: if you book through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Partner links are always labelled, and they never change what we recommend about parking.
